"Monday" Morning Gamer 28/2
Hello and welcome to another edition of MMG. I’ll ignore the fact that it isn’t Monday, as per usual, and just move on to telling what I have for you today.
Firstly, a report of the start of our Blood in the Badlands campaign. We’ve officially started and already things are turning out grim and bloody. Good stuff!
Next up is some American Football related stuff that some might find interesting. I do, at least!
And finally, because can you really ever have enough, a look at a newish 40K expansion by Forgeworld, called Zone Mortalis. They made some awesome terrain pieces but you’ll see those later on.
Off we go!

Campaign Update - First Batch of Player Fluff
Hello! Just a quick post today to share what kinds of fluff most players in our group have come up with so far. Mostly to do with main characters and potential alliances. Read at your own peril!

Campaign Post – Final Batch of Rules
Hello and welcome to the next (and last) batch of campaign rules. After this we should have all the rules we need to actually play the game. Once again, this campaign is pretty much a bog standard Blood in the Badlands campaign, but without the rules for fighting underground and with a few tweaks to the map to make it suitable for 6 players.
- Secondly, a bit of info on the remaining Important Tiles on the map, as well as the final version of the campaign map, with fixed starting position.
- Next, some additional info on the use of allied forces in your own armies
- Also I’ll give the special rules that will apply to all battles fought in each different season.
- Then, some lovely D6 tables that we’ll use (everyone loves tables, right?)
- Lastly, some words on the fluff of our campaign and your armies specifically
And finally, before I begin properly, for those few people reading this blog who aren’t participating in the campaign: Don’t worry, I’ll do some non-campaign related posts as well. I’ve been working on painting some Dystopian Wars forces (Prussians and a luverly Covenant Epicurus Airship) and recently I have been thinking about integrating different game systems into a single campaign. The mind does wander… Anyway, on with the show!
This is what I have for you today:

Midweek Modelling 16-2
Hello and welcome to another edition of Midweek Modelling, where I usually show off what I've painted and been up to with the actual hobbying aspect of the hobby. Having had a bit of a busy week I didn't paint as much as I'd like to have done. I painted another 4 tanks red so they'll fit in with my Imperial Guard army, though they are awaiting their final two coats of highlights before they are ready for having flames painted on. I'm also working on Apophis' Prussian battlefleet (congrats on graduating, btw!) and the Space Marine Diorama. All are progressing at various speeds, but nothing worthy of photographing as of yet.
That sounds this'll be a bit of a boring MM post, no? Well, I do have something for you. As I'm sure you've noticed, I am in the process of setting up a Blood in the Badlands campaign. )Lots of fun, can recommend it to everyone.) However, some of the battles, a few of the End of Season special scenarios and fights on certain tiles, require players to play a siege. Sieges sounds like they're a hoot and a half to play, but they require one bit of terrain you wouldn't normally use: a Fortress...
Now, I don't know about you, but I for one do not have a suitable Fortress in my not-inconsubstantial terrain collection. I could obviously buy one from GW, but that one is a bit generic and not to mention somewhat expensive. I could also make one myself, which I have already done once in the past. I used corrugated cardboard, duct tape and a nice wallop of textured paint. Servicable and cheap, not that much to look at. Don't know what happened to it.
Anyway, while I haven't been up to anything like that (though I might in the future) I received a few suggestions yesterday that I'd do a post on making a Fortress. Never one to back down from a challenge (especially not when I see an easy way out), here's what I have come up with.
Thunderstomp! proudly presents:
The Thunderstomp insta-Fortress! Ready in under 30 minutes! Just add water! (don't really add water, btw. That'll ruin it, and not in a good way.)

Monday Morning Gamer 13/2
Oh, Monday the 13th! Spooky! Well, for some reason Mondays aren’t bad luck for a 13th day of the month, but at the very least it’s kinda spooky I managed to post an update of MMG on an actual Monday! (I know, I know, my opening paragraphs suck… I’ll try and work on them.)
What have I got lined up for you today? To be honest, not that much yet. Well, I say not much, but it’s actually quite exciting, but it’s just a single subject as opposed to multiple different things as usual. But let’s not dwell on what you’re not getting and keep a positive attitude. Today, I have, especially for you, a grid map of the Badlands! Made by Shalen, thanks a lot, it’s exactly what we were looking for. It’s not quite finished, but good enough for me to show you what it’s all about and talk a bit more about what the campaign is all about.
Let’s get to it, yeah?

Wednesday Morning Gamer - 9/2
Late again, as per usual!. Still, here I am with another installment of MMG, chock-full of all manner of wargaming goodness. Let’s see what’s in store for today:
Firstly a look at how we’re getting on with Dystopian Wars. Played another game this Sunday, and boy, did I get beat! More on that later.
Next, a look ahead at our Blood in the Badlands campaign. Originally, when the book was just released, the plan was to start the campaign “somewhere a couple of months in, after new year’s”. Well, according to my calculations that would be right about now, or at the very least, soonish!
Thirdly, I thought I’d do a bit of a guide for people looking to start collecting a new army. As everyone who’s ever pondered which army to play can tell you, there’s a lot more that goes into choosing an army than “ pick the models you like best” . Here’s some tips and pointers.
Lastly, some thoughts on the LotR strategy battle game revival that’s been brought on by GW’s releases this month.
Promises to be a pretty long post. Think I can use that as an excuse for posting late? No...?
Off we go!
